This four day intensive workshop is a deep and honest meeting point and think-tank for creative makers and communicators. People at various stages of their practice, working in any form of still photography or moving image – this may include works based on archival or vernacular imagery – are invited to participate and create a space for collective and individual discussions on visual practices.

Participants are encouraged to bring to the workshop anything of their choosing – a question, a project-in-progress, a creative challenge, or an idea for future photographic work in order to spark a process of deliberation. The workshop will focus and reflect on an array of elements of visual thinking such as the creation of narrative and storytelling, the photographic long-form, editing, sequencing, series-development, analysis of potential problems and challenges, and conceptualisation of ideas and directions. Concepts and inspirations may emerge for future projects or even collaborations, and participants, throughout the workshop, will be encouraged to deepen an understanding of and transparency into their own work and working processes, questioning their own relationship to that which is seen.

The workshop will draw on notions of photographic practice as one of ‘being-in-the-world’. Katrin will provide in-depth insight into her own working processes and influences. She will also provide comprehensive reviews of each participant’s individual work.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Documentary photographers and photojournalists who have an interest in visual storytelling and have at least one body of work, or are midway through creating a body of work.
