Christopher Pinney has been researching popular visual culture in central India since the 1980s. In the late 1990s he published Camera Indica, a book on popular photographic practices. This talk tries to bring the story up to date – to late 2015 – looking not only at how popular practices have changed but also at how different theoretical paradigms might be necessary to understand those practices.
