Narendra Shrestha is a photographer who has worked for several daily newspapers and weekly magazines in Nepal as a photojournalist. His most acknowledged works have been the documentation of two pivotal periods in the country’s recent history – the Maoist insurgency (1996-2005) and the second People’s Movement in 2006. Shrestha covered a historic Cabinet meeting in 2009 at Kala Patthar, Everest Base Camp, helping draw global attention towards the effects of climate change. He is a recipient of Nepal’s New Achiever Award, first prize at the Kathmandu International Film Festival and grand prize at the Nepal National Photo Award. Shrestha has also been documenting the Australian Open Tennis Grandslam for European Pressphoto Agency since 2013.
