This workshop by Invisible Photographer Asia (IPA) in partnership with Photo Kathmandu, is designed for photographers with a body of work or portfolio and facilitators who work with photography. Over the course of 3 intensive days, participants will learn valuable insights with regards to working on a photo project or portfolio – aesthetics, language, self-critique, editing and curating their photographs to better narrate and communicate voice and vision.
Workshop Outline
DAY 1:
• Workshop Orientation and Lecture on Working on Photo Projects
• Photo Editing 101 Lecture
• Participants’ Portfolio and Project Review and Critique – Aesthetics, Language and Intent.
DAY 2:
• Group Editing Exercise 1: Personal Projects – Non-linearity and Intuition
• Response to Day 1 Critique: Refinement of Participants’ Projects and Portfolio. One-on-one. Participants may pursue photography to add to the edit and/or focus on editing down their projects or portfolios.
DAY 3:
• Group Editing Exercise 2: Documentary Photo Essay – Linearity and Logic
• Final Group Critique, Edit and Review of Participants’ Projects and Portfolio
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Kevin WY Lee is a photographer and creative director based in Singapore. He has worked as a creative professional for over 15 years. In 2010, he founded Invisible Photographer Asia (IPA), a well followed platform for Photography & Visual Arts in Asia. He participates vigorously in photography and art across the region as a practitioner, curator, producer and editor. In his own practice, Kevin is interested in Singapore, her history and modern condition. A broader canvas and interest lie in mortality, and how people cope with the finiteness of being mortal in their public and private lives.
Kevin is a curator and nominator for various festivals and programs, including the Angkor Photo Festival, Prix Pictet Award and PhotoQuai Biennale. He has also served as a jury for various awards including the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards, Singapore Creative Circle Awards, Hong Kong Photobook Awards, The Big Picture Contest, and Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards.
Most recently, Kevin authored a book of photographs titled Suddenly The Grass Became Greener.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
This workshop is open to participants working in the documentary, street or contemporary photography practice, and of varying experience. It is recommended that participants have a ‘body of work’ or portfolio of photographs to examine during the workshop. Works and projects can be new, work-in-progress or completed.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
• To apply, please fill an application form.
• Send us a selection of your work – your portfolio for this application process should be between 15-20 low-resolution images from an on-going body of work. Please note that each photograph should be 800 pixels on the longer side.
• Please email the above mentioned to workshops@photoktm.com. Subject of your email should be the title of the workshop. If the size of the attachments is more than 10mb, please send files via WeTransfer.
• Participants are requested to bring a project, series, or body of work (portfolio) in a wide selection of photographs, at least 30 images.
• Participants are requested to bring PRINTS (Approx. 4R/4″ x 6″ size or larger) and JPG files of their images for review and editing. PRINTS do not have to be of exhibition quality.
