Ishan Tankha is a Delhi-based independent photojournalist whose work has been featured in a number of publications including South China Morning Post, Le Monde, India Today, The Guardian, Le Soir, and Open Magazine among others. His work covers a range of subjects from natural disasters to the visits of heads of state, insurgency in Kashmir, life in post-war Sri Lanka to the Indian cricket team’s tour of Pakistan.  He was a Staff Photographer at India Today and Open magazine from 2005-08 and the Photo Editor at Tehelka from 2012-13. Ishan has exhibited at The Vadhera Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi and Max Mueller Bhavan. He held his first solo at the Japan Foundation, New Delhi in 2013. ‘A Peal of Spring Thunder’ received the FIND grant for 2013 and a was a finalist in the Alkazi Foundation Grant for a dummy book earlier this year. He graduated from St. Stephen’s College in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and lives in New Delhi with his wife and two cats.
